After completing the restoration and re-painting of the magnificent Victory Sports Ground gates in Southend-on-Sea, the Council asked us to apply the same high level of TLC to the wrought iron gates at Chalkwell Park.

This November we replaced a missing leaf on the magnificent Victory Sports Ground Gates in Southend-on-Sea. It was the last task in a project Southend Council gave us to return the 90 year old gates to their original glory.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much of interest to see at the base of this amazing 1,000 foot plus building. But that’s where our guys have been working recently.

Arriving after 10pm on a winter’s night, they set to work to investigate why the doors and locks of The Shard’s AV housing units weren’t working as they should. Some hours later they had all the information they needed to provide the client with a report and solution. Now, they’re booked to go back for another evening to put everything right.

Unsatisfied with their widely spaced handrails, the managers of the highly respected Whipps Cross University Hospital wanted metal panels installed at the back of them to make them a solid barrier. With perforations to let in light and powder-coating to provide a lastingly smart finish, the new panels we’ve installed got the thumbs up all round.

On 18th September The Cosmonauts: Birth of the Space Age exhibition will open at the Science Museum in London. We’re proud – in a small way – to have helped get it there. By removing and altering some of the railings around the Mill Engine in the Energy Hall we enabled some of the large exhibits to be brought through the gallery. Now, we’re waiting impatiently for 18th September so we can see what they were!

We’re proud to have been asked by the Embassy of Israel to design, fabricate and install a canopy to cover the entrance used by visa applicants. For security reasons, we can only show you a photo of the curved canopy framework being made in our workshop. The steel framework you see on the bench was later infilled with polycarbonate sheeting so that, as well as providing protection from rain or snow, sunlight can still shine through.

and along corridors, our specialist has now refurbished many metres of brass handrail for The London Palladium. So we’ve let him sit back for 10 minutes with a tub of ice cream before his next act of metal wizardry.

These planters are ideal for brightening up a side path or patio at any time of year. Made of aluminium, they’re light, so easy to carry until you fill them with earth and plants. Even then, because of their height, they’re easy to work on. These ones were placed opposite windows which used to look out on bare fence panels. We like the bright blue colour, but you can have them powder-coated any shade you like. Shocking pink anyone?

We hope your business has got off to as busy a start as ours. We’re refurbishing the brass handrails at the London Palladium so they shine as brightly as the cast on stage, and undertaking a host of more regular repair and maintenance work too. No wonder Christmas seems a distant memory.

To our guys who worked this weekend to mend wrought iron gates at a busy depot, which involved shop and site welding, and the ones who replaced the door closers at the Tesco store next to Portcullis House. It means David Cameron, Nick Clegg, Ed Milliband et al can buy their lunchtime sandwiches and pick up a ready meal on their way home without feeling any icy draught through the doors.
