We thoroughly checked all the gates, carried out minor repairs and provided a report with quotes to rectify the more extensive repairs needed or carry out more detailed inspections, which called for gate leafs to be removed. We’ve now been given the go ahead to carry these out.

From a visible inspection of 16 of the museum’s gates, we were able to draw up a schedule of the gates at the museum, The Royal Observatory and its Kidbrooke storage facility that gave them an instantly accessible written and photographic record of each gate’s make-up, closing mechanism and condition invaluable for its maintenance and repair. Working after the Gallery shut at 6, we thoroughly examined each of the doors and took photos of them, then provided the Gallery with a written and photographic report detailing each door’s location, make-up, closing mechanism and condition invaluable for its maintenance and repair.
