We machined a new bottom journal pin and socket hinge for this Grade I listed church, and used them to repair the gate so that it would open and close correctly.

Another handrail we’ve made and installed that, as well as providing assistance to worshippers, enhances the building’s interior.

We replaced 2 broken panels restoring the balustrade to its original glory.

We removed the broken panels, took them to our workshop, carefully repaired them, then took them back to site and reinstated them in perfect condition.

We made new railings to match existing ones and repaired the stair handrail, so everything looked as elegant as the day the house was built.

We removed the gate and its side panels and took them to our workshop. There, we carried out repairs, made new sections and added them to the gate and panels, made a new journal and heel pins so the gate would work properly, and fitted a new lock to the gate.

We then took the gate and its panels back to site, refitted them and left the gate working as well as it did the first day it was fitted in Queen Victoria’s time!

BEFORE OUR RESTORATION WORK:

Having carried out work for the church before, they naturally came to us when they needed gate repairs – and we were very happy to help them again.

We repaired the North Gates at Westminster Abbey, restoring them to good working order.

ONE OF THE GATE LEAFS IN OUR WORKSHOP:

Working from Matthew Lloyd Architects’ drawings, we made and installed five handrails for the portico to help visitors ascend and descend the stairs of this iconic 19th Century church designed by the famous architect, John Nash.

INSTALLING THE HANDRAILS:

We removed these balustrades (most of which dated from the 1830s) while refurbishment was being carried out, renovated them, extended their legs, then reinstated them on site leaving them looking as good as the day they were first installed.
