We made packer plates for the closer, welded them to the gate and adjacent railings, then secured the new gate closer to them – leaving the gate closer working perfectly.

We carried out extensive repairs to the gate and railings and installed a new concrete plinth to match the neighbours’.

We removed both gates, shot blasted them, repaired them, repainted them, then took them back to site and re-hanged them – leaving them in perfect working order.

We collected the gate and brought it to our workshop, where we fitted a new closing edge and installed a new lock with handles. We then returned it to site, resecured the urn that had broken off, and fixed a loose railing bar, including securing the end section that had pulled away from the wall.

BEFORE OUR REPAIRS:

We took the gate to our workshop, made a new hinge pin and carried out other repairs, then took it back to site, re-hanged it and left it in good working order.

We removed the gate and its side panels and took them to our workshop. There, we carried out repairs, made new sections and added them to the gate and panels, made a new journal and heel pins so the gate would work properly, and fitted a new lock to the gate.

We then took the gate and its panels back to site, refitted them and left the gate working as well as it did the first day it was fitted in Queen Victoria’s time!

BEFORE OUR RESTORATION WORK:

Having carried out work for the church before, they naturally came to us when they needed gate repairs – and we were very happy to help them again.

We sourced a new deadlock for this gate, cut off the old lockbox and welded the new deadlock in place.

We repaired the North Gates at Westminster Abbey, restoring them to good working order.

ONE OF THE GATE LEAFS IN OUR WORKSHOP:

As we have done for the last few years, we removed the gates at this entrance so that lorries needed for the park’s summer festival could enter and exit the site. We stored the gates at our workshop, then, once the festival had ended, took the gates back to the site and reinstated them.
